The Stages of Life

Spread the love

Today we’ll be talking about the stages of life. We’ll learn what they are called in French.

RIDDLE SOLUTION

But before we get started, let’s go back to my previous article for a while. There was a riddle for you to answer. I showed you an image and asked what it was. Here’s the image again:

bacteria

And here’s the solution. I think it wasn’t hard to guess that these are bacteria. But to be more precise, it’s a model of bacteria that I made in Blender.

If you want to learn how to make such a model in Blender, feel free to read my step-by-step tutorial.

And now, let’s finally get started.

The Stages of Life – Les étapes de la vie

So, at first you must be born. So, your birth is the first stage of life. In French we say:

la naissance – birth

birth

Next, there’s infancy, so the very first years of your life. In French we call this stage:

le bas âge – infancy

infancy

When you grow a little older, but not too much, you enter the stage of childhood, which in French is:

l’enfance – childhood

childhood

The stage between childhood and adulthood is called adolescence. The French term is very similar to the English one:

l’adolescence (f.) – adolescence

adolescence

And then you become a young adult. You reach maturity, which in French is called:

la maturité – maturity

This stage is also known as youth, which in French is:

la jeunesse – youth

At this stage you should act like a grown-up, so reasonably. So, we can also use the following term:

l’âge de raison (m.) – grown-up age

youth

Then comes the long stage that we call middle age. In French we say:

l’âge mûr (m.) – middle age

middle age

When you get old, your senior or older age stage begins. In French you can use the term:

le troisième âge – senior, older age

older age

And then it all must end. Whether you lived your life well or badly, it all leads to one and the same, the death:

la mort – death

death
