The Verb + Accusative Construction in German

Today we’ll be talking about the VERB + ACCUSATIVE construction where a verb is followed by a noun phrase in accusative case. Constructions like that are common in both English and German. Especially with verbs of senses:

sehento see
hörento hear
fühlento feel
spürento sense, to feel

Some English examples are:

I saw her walk across the street.

She heard me knock on the door.

And now some German ones:

Ich sah den Mann schlafen.I saw the man sleep / sleeping.
Man hört die Frau schön singen.One can hear the woman sing / singing beautifully.
Sie spürte die Temperatur steigen.I felt the temperature rise / rising.
Er fühlte sein Herz schlagen.He felt his heart beat / beating.
Ich sah den Mann schlafen.
Ich sah den Mann schlafen.
